S. Tsereteli Institute for Philosophy

S. Tsereteli Institute for Philosophy is a research center existing on the basis of Ilia State University, which aims to integrate research components in University [area]. Therefore, MA and PhD level students of Ilia State University are involved in research projects [of Institute] along with the Academic Personnel/staff. S. Tsereteli Institute for Philosophy is currently conducting research projects in the following areas:

• Practical philosophy (ethics), legal and moral philosophy (political philosophy, human rights), modern social theories 
• Modern philosophy (language, metaphysics, postmodern theories) 
• Study of religious discourse (translation, analysis and publishing of theological texts as well as texts concerning religious consciousness ;) 

In order to promote philosophical research, Institute is dedicated to provide a platform for informal discussion (“Philosophy Club”) and scientific environment, on the other hand, for Georgian researchers to set up scholarly discussions. Besides research components Institute organizes public lectures, scientific conferences, summer schools with Georgian and foreign participants. One of Institute’s occupations also includes development of Masters Degree program at Ilia State University.
