Iliauni Business School

Iliauni Business School at Ilia State University was founded in 2008 as the faculty of Business and Law. In summer of 2010 it started functioning separately, and later in 2012 was named Iliauni Business School (IBS).  Iliauni Business School is devoted to excellence in teaching, learning, and research, and to developing leaders in many business disciplines who make a difference nationally and globally. The lecturers are alumni of leading universities in the world, who share their experience, practical and theoretical knowledge with their students. For students who are excited to investigate the biggest issues of the 21st century, Iliauni Business School offers an unparalleled student experience. The School is offering a global education to more than 5000 students. At present it has an enrolment of over 5825 degree candidates, including undergraduate, graduate, and professional students.

The faculty is engaged with teaching and research. The Economic Research and Consulting Center of Iliauni Business School (http://ibr.iliauni.edu.ge/index.php/ge/) leads research and consulting activities involving 1000 students, and provides research and analytical information via Iliauni Business Review. On the basis of strong cooperation the research and analytics concentrating on the latest news and authoritative analysis on business trends, investing, technology and much more, are published in “Forbes” Georgia magazine every month. In addition to business-related information translated from the Forbes USA the magazine provides detailed primary and analytical information on processes in Georgian business environment. Georgia is the twentieth country where the local representation of the magazine has been set up.

A year ago Iliauni Business School started teaching by the case method, which is a powerful interactive learning process that puts students in the shoes of a leader faced with a real-world management issue and challenges them to propose and justify a resolution. Students are also involved in everyday practical activities as they are members of numerous student clubs. There are “Future Bankers’”, “Young managers’”, and “Future Economists’” clubs in the School, where students can explicitly express their opinions and lead discussions about current topics in business. The clubs conduct intellectual games that motivate students to be the leaders in their fields.

The school cooperates with the following partner universities: University of Limerick (Limerick, Ireland), Montpellier 3 (Montpellier, France), University of Groningen (Groningen, Netherlands), Banku Augstskola (Riga, Latvia), University of Sussex (Sussex, Great Britain), Emory University (USA) , Adam Mitskevich University (Poznan, Poland), etc.

Since 2012 Iliauni Business School is the member of Harvard Business School Institute for Strategy and Competitiveness Net. The Institute studies competition and its implications for company strategy, the competitiveness of nations, regions and cities and solutions to social problems.
